Plant rooms pre-fabricated off-site
Demand for off-site manufacture of fully packaged plantrooms has steadily increased over recent years. More new build and refurbishment projects are being designed with pre-fabricated, off-site plant rooms which provides the optimum solution more cost effectively and arrives fully tested and ready for final installation.
Work on building the plantroom can also commence in tandem with the main construction work and will be unaffected by on-site influences such as weather, health and safety issues and unforeseen disruption. A construction site is far from ideal to construct and install a plantroom and the benefits of undertaking the work in a clean and dedicated factory environment will invariably result in a better quality finished plantroom.

benefits
There are many proven reasons why off-site manufacture offers many benefits and here are just a few.
- Substantial cost savings can be achieved when pre-fabricating - compared to conventional on-site builds
- Installation times can be reduced by up to 60% - compared to on site construction
- Reduces possible risks associated with on-site construction - constructed within a quality controlled, dedicated, clean and safe environment
- Faster, more efficient production process with manufacturing taking place in tandem with overall construction site activity
- Improved health and safety - construction carried out within a purpose-built, highly controlled, safe environment
- Waste is kept to an absolute minimum and almost everything is re-cycled immediately
- Far fewer logistical problems- build, inspect, test, pre-commission, deliver, install, commission
- Access to inspect and discuss progress within a highly safe, controlled environment - particularly during testing protocols

Independently tested to and compliant with the latest ISO/BS/EN standards and ErP Eco-Design Directives and built in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 quality and ISO 14001:2015 environmental standards.

Case study: St Mary's Hospital
Sector: Healthcare
The project was to completely replace an existing steam boiler/plantroom plus the addition of a pump plantroom for heating distribution to various critical areas within the hospital.
Due to severe space restrictions, the new plantroom had to be manufactured in two sections, mounted vertically. The bottom section contained steam boilers and the top deck contained the primary and secondary heating distribution pumps and control panels.
Access door position and orientation had to be specifically tailored to meet the existing external access platforms and walkways which were extremely tight. Installation was also challenging due to the fact that the hospital is located in the centre of London and has very few open areas.

University of Birmingham
Sector: Education
The University is in the midst of a 10-year campus investment programme costing over £1 billion and were looking to incorporate a new state-of-the-art packaged plantroom as part of their major investment plans.
The application was to design, manufacture and deliver a new plantroom, within very tight timescales however, due to our fast-track manufacturing, testing and pre-commissioning capabilities – we were able to deliver on time and within budget.
Manufactured in two sections the plantroom contained heating boilers, distribution pumps, an air handling unit, extensive pipework, distribution ductwork and the latest control protocols.
John Lewis Partnership - Oxford Store
Sector: Retail
Measuring 7.5m x 7m x3m this particular packaged plantroom was one of our larger applications. Due to logistical issues we designed the plantroom in two halves, which we are more than happy to do, as we have years of expertise in delivering complex, bespoke solutions.
The plantroom included water heaters, boilers, buffer vessels, storage tanks, plate heat exchanger, pumps, water conditioner plant, expansion vessels, etc.
All associated pipework was fully connected and tested prior to delivery so that when the plantroom arrived on site, it was off-loaded and hooked up speedily and efficiently.
